Summer Group Dog Training Classes

We are excited to announce that we have new Group Classes  forming for Puppy Fundamentals, Basic Foundations, and Basic Foundations for 25 lbs and Under.   To register, please use the contact us tab, and then pay online  through paypal, clicking the group training link.  Once you have registered, we will send you some general information about classes.

Puppy Informational Series

Informational Dog Sessions_June

Have a new puppy?  Adopted a new rescue dog?  Want to get them started off on the right foot?

Come join us for 3 FREE Information Sessions on topics every new dog owner needs to know.  Topics such as house training, crate training, reward-based positive training, managing and solving problem behaviors, socialization, and more will be covered.

Intro to Fun Agility class and Clicker Basics for Sports and Tricks class

This class is for dogs 1 year or older – friendly and social

Dogs need to know how to sit, stay, and have some loose leash walking skills

 

Want to learn more about the clicker?  We have a Clicker Basics class for Sports and Tricks in June as well.

This class is for dogs 6 months or older who are social, friendly, and quiet

Dogs should have some basic obedience skills.

Puppy Informational Sessions

Please join us next Wednesday, May 8th at Heekin Animal Hospital for the start of our new Puppy Informational Sessions.  This series is devoted to helping you and your puppy get started off on the right paw!  Topics discussed will be house training, crate training, and an introduction to progressive positive, reward-based training.

These sessions are for humans only.  Please RSVP if you plan to attend by calling Heekin Animal Hospital at 859-581-8250.  Don’t forget to bring a photo of your new dog!

Winter Group Classes

Puppy Fundamentals

Your puppy’s early life is important. Teaching fundamental skills and providing socialization are all excellent ways to start your puppy off on the right foot. This class emphasizes appropriate socialization, confidence building skills, basic obedience and problem prevention through the use of reward-based, positive training methods. We want to help you and your puppy succeed for life.

Puppies – 9 weeks to 20 weeks at the start date of class

First class is humans only (no dogs please) and will last approximately 1 hour.

January 31st – March 21st (skip Feb. 28th) at 5:30-6:15pm

Copy of 1st round of vaccinations, completed questionnaire, and signed waiver required – please bring with you at first class

Basic Foundation Skills II
Building upon our Basic Foundations Skills class, we will be refining you and your dog’s skills in stays, recalls, and loose leash walking with distractions. We will also be working on more “zen” and attention behaviors, relaxation techniques, CGC exercises, games, and mental stimulation exercises all through the use of positive, reward based methods. This class is best for
adolescents and young dogs or if your dog needs a refresher course.

Pre-requisite:
Dogs – 6 months and older who are friendly, social, and quiet.  If you are not sure whether your dog would be appropriate for a group class, we have a hand out we can send you.
Dogs must have completed a basic obedience course and have a solid sit, down, and eye contact.

January 31st – March 21st (skip Feb. 28th) at 6:45-7:30pm

Copy of vaccinations, completed questionnaire, and signed waiver required – please bring with you at first class

Basic Foundation Skills for 25 lbs and Under
We realize that being a small dog owner can present its own unique challenges. We will be working on similar exercises featured in our Basic Foundation Skills II class, but all geared towards the small breed owner. We will also be teaching you issues of safety and handling that pertain to small dogs.

Pre-requisite:
Dogs – 6 months and older who are friendly, social, and quiet; maximum class size is 6
Dogs must have completed a basic obedience course and have a solid sit, down, and eye contact.

January 31st – March 21st (skip Feb. 28th) at 8:00-8:45pm

Copy of vaccinations, completed questionnaire, and signed waiver required – please bring with you at first class

**All classes will run for 7 weeks with a maximum of 6 dogs/handlers.

Classes will be held at the Senior Center, Edgewood, KY
